There is great need for trained physicians to look after kidney patients. Large stretches of land in India are without kidney specialists. Patients die before reaching a nephrologist. Patients have to travel for 10 to 12 hours to reach a dialysis center. This has to change!!

We have started a 13 and half months fellowship award for deserving physicians to take up training in nephrology. This is in collaboration with Westmead Hospital, University of Sydney. The first year is spent in a teaching hospital in Mumbai and the last 6 weeks at Westmead Hospital.

The cost of travel, visa, stay and other expenses is taken care of by Apex Kidney foundation. The students are paid a substantial stipend of approximately Rs 30,000pm during their training at the teaching hospital.

These physicians are expected to go back to their home town and start a basic nephrology set up along with a dialysis unit. Apex Kidney Care support them in starting the set up financially and logistically. You can sponsor the student’s study partly or completely and thus indirectly help a large number of patients.
