
It is a 13 ½ months program with the first twelve months spent in a tertiary care centres like Bombay Hospital, Mumbai, which have a DM, DNB (nephrology) training program. The last six weeks are spent at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
A training of this duration in a tertiary care centre affiliated to a health university for advance training in nephrology is more than sufficient in the present scenario. The student is given a senior resident post and stipend is paid to cover living expenses.
As a Nephrology trainee the scope of work is such so as to to gain maximum experience encompassing general nephrology, transplant and all modalities of dialysis.
Ward rounds, Peripheral/ ICU calls and OPD patient assessment with AKI and Acute on chronic renal injury. Supplementation of clinical training with basic science knowledge and experience in collaboration with departments of Immunology, Biochemistry and Nephro pathology.
Hands-on training in procedures of interventional Nephrology like Jugular catheter placements, perm cath insertions, renal biopsies of native and transplant kidneys.
The purpose of this pathway is to train fellows interested in pursuing careers in academics as future clinician educators. Role includes mentoring students,residents, dialysis technicians in various clinical settings.
An uIn-depth experience in live and deceased donor renal transplant patient care involving post-operative transplant inpatient management ,OPD follow-ups ,interpretation of post-transplant renal biopsies and a comprehensive didactic lecture program integrating Transplant immunology ,pharmacology ,pathology and infectious disease diagnostics.
You will be a able to get handson experience as clinical tours are a part of the program. Student will be able to tour:
